Role Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing maintenance work orders for high-rise buildings within the Old Oak portfolio in London, Ontario. A proactive approach together with a team oriented can-do attitude is required to ensure a high level of customer and employee satisfaction. A high level of customer skills is important, as this role is very interactive with residents.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Review and complete maintenance work orders in an efficient, high quality manner

Use purchase order system to purchase necessary supplies, or use shop supplies

Review and submit completed work orders / timesheets on a daily basis, identifying shop supplies and purchased supplies for corresponding work orders

Respond to urgent calls as necessary

Provide high quality customer service to residents, leaving resident communication cards

Ensure a team approach is taken in working together with Building and Asst. Managers

Provide feedback on any issues noticed within suites that requires attention/intervention

When working in units, always check plumbing fixtures for proper function and operation; report any leaking to Maintenance Manager

Report any hazards or risks immediately in units or common areas, grounds to Maintenance Manager or Senior Property Manager

Employ a high standard of care and safety with vehicles, equipment, tools, etc.

Perform a daily walk around check of vehicle to ensure safe operation is possible

Track and report distances driven and report every two weeks

Other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications

3 years experience with Building Maintenance required

3-5 years experience with High-Rise Maintenance preferred

Forklift experience is an asset although not required

Strong inter-personnel and follow up skills

Ability to remain confident and remain calm in stressful situations

Vehicle required to travel to various sites within West London

Clean driving record

Police clearance check

Miscellaneous

Physical strength – maintain physical strength to regularly lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
